Learn to Play American Mahjong - Refresher 102

Played before but feeling a little rusty? Let’s dust off those tiles together!

Whether it’s been a few months or a few decades since your last game, this refresher class is designed to help you reconnect with the rhythm of American Mahjong. We’ll walk through the essentials, answer your lingering questions, and get you playing confidently again. No judgment, no pressure, just plenty of support (and a few laughs!).

In this session, we’ll review:

• Tiles, setup, wall building, and turn order• Reading the NMJL card and choosing a hand• Charleston strategy and tile swapping• Jokers, exposures, and calling for Mahj• Common mistakes and how to fix them

Come solo or bring your Mahjong friends, all are welcome.

* A 2025 NMJL card is required to play ($15, available at the event or online).
