What this book is about: Discovering those everyday moments -- the beautiful cracks, if you will -- when we can identify where hope shows up in the sunsets, in our loved ones, in the pets
in our lives, in the jobs that sometimes seem so laborious, and yes, even in the times when our hearts are breaking and the world seems like it always and forever will be off kilter. ...
You’ll see quickly that this book is not a theological treatise, but rather an everyday playbook to help you see God and experience the Holy Spirit. A guide that I pray will help you to rethink your
experiences about faith and your relationship with the Creator, whatever that word means to you. This is not about doctrine or dogma, and may even seem superfluous to the most serious
religious academics.
The Rev. Devlyn Brooks is an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, serving Faith Lutheran Church in Wolverton, Minn., since 2017. He founded the blog site findingfaithin.com, where he writes about finding God in the beautiful, everyday cracks of life as well. Additionally, he writes a weekly faith column that appears in dozens of newspapers, some of which inspired his book, “Finding Faith in Life’s Beautiful Cracks.”
In August 2024 he was appointed the CEO of Churches United, a large, professional, faith-based nonprofit that operates an emergency shelter, food pantry and supportive housing apartments. He is married to Shelley, and they have four children, with a growing number of “plus ones” they adore: Garrett & Anna, Carter & Sarah, Ava & Hunter and Siri.
