*BIG ANNOUNCEMENT - WE NEED YOU (please) @everyone*
St Peter & St Paul's Church, Osborn Road, has existed since Fareham existed (pretty much!) and so many of Fareham's ancestors, rich and poor have been buried on the site but there is no known accurate record of the gravesites, we intend to change this*
With the use of modern technology ( what3words ) and old school technology (paper and crayon rubbing) we at Uplands History Group intend to do our best to create a map which will be held at both St Peter & St Paul's Church and M Coghlan Funeral Directors
This is a really important thing to do for Fareham but it's a big undertaking.
We are asking for everyone who can volunteer, to come along on Saturday, 26th July from 09:30. Bring whatever you think might be useful. You can come for however long fits with you.
Please bear in mind that the ground is uneven, so if you're not stable on your feet, perhaps you could cheerlead from the side lines/ home?
Please share with friends, family, community groups, whoever. The churchyard is bigger than you might have realised and this will be a challenging job, but we can do it and gift it to our community.
*Sadly some graves never had/ no longer have markers.
