Course Aim:
To provide dog owners and canine care professionals with the practical knowledge and confidence to respond to common canine emergencies, protect a dog’s wellbeing, and potentially save lives.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Recognise the signs of common canine emergencies (e.g. heatstroke, poisoning, trauma, seizures).
2. Conduct an initial assessment using the “DR ABC” approach (Danger, Response, Airway, Breathing, Circulation).
3. Deliver life-saving first aid, including CPR, controlling bleeding, and managing fractures or wounds.
4. Respond appropriately to critical incidents such as choking, road traffic accidents, collapse, and shock.
5. Support the dog’s condition until veterinary treatment is available.
6. Understand legal and welfare considerations when delivering first aid in a professional setting.
7. Prepare and maintain a canine first aid kit appropriate to their role.
