Star Party at Custer State Park

Dive into the magic of the night sky at Custer State Park! We’re thrilled to partner with the Black Hills Astronomical Society for a special Star Party under some of the darkest skies in the Black Hills.
• Explore the universe through multiple telescopes
• Learn from knowledgeable astronomers and park naturalists
• Discover constellations, planets, and deep sky wonders
This free event is open to all ages and experience levels. The Custer State Park Bison Center will be open during the evening with interpretive staff on hand to help you get the most out of your stargazing experience.
In case of bad weather, the Star Party will be rescheduled for, August 30. Watch our event page or check in at the Visitor Center for updates.
Bring a blanket, your curiosity, and prepare to be amazed. We’ll see you under the stars!
There is no fee to participate, but a park entrance license is required. Licenses may be purchased at the Park Office (Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) or at the Visitor Center, open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
