Dragon Slayers (Exeter) is creating a workshop free for Exeter residents aged 18+ who want to learn more about role-playing games (RPGs), such as Dungeons & Dragons, and how to join in.
RPGs are games of the imagination and can be lots of fun to play.
This workshop is aimed at residents who have little or no experience in playing.
Workshop content:
What is Dragon Slayers? How it can benefit players.
What is a role-playing game?
What is a character? How do you create one? How can you bring your character to life. How do you role-play your character?
Storytelling - how does this happen in a game?
How to be a Games Master? Is it easy? What do you need? How to save yourself lots of money.
Buying accessories and supplements. Are these really needed? Advice to help you game more efficiently.
How to make a game and the gaming space safe for everyone.
Research and preparation - how important are these activities? Are there alternatives? Preparation versus spontaneity.
What is railroading? Is this a bad thing for players?
Time - do you have enough time to prepare for a game? Do you have actually have time to play not just one session but several. What's your level of commitment? How do you resolve this?
How do you create new worlds? How to make maps for a game and save yourself lots of money. We'll be gaming through your newly created maps.
This workshop will include a number of small fun activities for participants to help them develop their gaming confidence.
