The deliciously cynical Enid (Thora Birch) and Rebeca (Scarlett Johansson) have just graduated, and in their listless apathy, wiling away the summer they answer a personals ad in the newspaper and Enid becomes fixated in the life of Seymore (Steve Buscemi), a lonely, ecentric jazz fan – this entanglement, as well as the frictions of growing up and apart threatens her friendship with Rebecca.
