Welcoming The Riverside back to El Rancho House Concerts on August 23rd for an evening of folk music under the stars.

• Limited house seating will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. Bring a chair or blanket for lawn seating, if you prefer.

The Riverside originated in Southern California where founding member, Jacob Jeanson (songwriter & guitar), was attending Westmont College in 2012. In his senior year, the band formed in hopes of winning Santa Barbara’s battle of the bands. As an energetic and engaging folk band with foot-stomping musical companions, the group was able to win the competition and release their first album with the winnings.

In the following years, Jake would go on to grow in tasteful and intentional songwriting; a nostalgic yet refreshing charm that leads listeners across a grand frontier of warm and beautiful scenery. In the process, he met his now long-time best friends and bandmates Kristen Posey (KP) and Chase Fierro, whose talent and charm make The Riverside what it is today.

The trio swiftly began touring throughout theaters, venues, and festivals across the United States, but found a home playing intimate house shows in backyards and living rooms. Frequently collaborating with additional musical friends while touring, the group aims to create a magical and organic vibe regardless of the location or the night’s lineup of instruments and voices. The atmosphere the group creates is undeniably compelling, with the band often singing and playing around a single old fashioned microphone, seamlessly blending the musical composition of their harmonies and instruments. Since 2012, The Riverside has released 8 homegrown records and multiple EPs, with more songs and albums in the works.

Andreas DeValera is an indie singer/songwriter based in Evergreen, Colorado. Having studied in the songwriting department at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachussetts, DeValera is a lover of all things song. With influences such as Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, Gregory Alan Isakov, Bob Dylan, and Leonard Cohen, he appreciates great songwriting - and it shows. His devotion to his craft, both musically and lyrically, creates a listening experience that is both old and new - songs that utilize poetic imagery and tell a story while feeling fresh, but also like long-lost friends.

His latest album, Faulty Expectation, was released in November 2022, and features 12 songs backed by some of the musicians from his debut, Andreas DeValera, such as Nick Milo (Joe Cocker, Tower of Power) along with new friends - Jeb Bows (Gregory Alan Isakov) on violin and Jeff Rady on pedal steel, creating new sonic textures. The album has been well received – gaining over 200,000 streams since release and radio play worldwide.

DeValera has played alongside fellow Colorado musicians Daniel Rodriguez (Elephant Revival), Covenhoven, and Clay Rose / Gasoline Lollipops, toured with nationally renowned folk group, The Riverside, and has garnered praise from music legends such as Terry Allen and Livingston Taylor.
