Before we left for Uganda in Feb. 2025, I met with representatives from Joy International. Joy International has a big following in the Evergreen/Conifer, Colorado area. Due to the level 3 travel status, Joy International is not allowed to visit Uganda where they have several women that they have helped return to their communities from sex traffickers. I volunteered to meet Pastor Ali, a community leader during our visit to discuss a water project.
We traveled out of the city and into the mountains to Nyambo County where I met a community of very dedicated people. We followed Pastor Ali to the top of the mountain where the source of the water started from inside the mountain. These women would walk up the mountain to fill their jugs of water each and every day. The roundtrip process took several hours. During the flash floods of 2023, the rain took out the piping that was once provided by Joy International. The piping provided water to 500 people. After meeting with the community group and Pastor Ali, it was determined that the best next steps for me was to start fundraising. In order to not only repair and replace the piping, we will purchase an additional holding tank to service more people through the Nyakabingo Community Water Project. In addition to the Water Project, local Ugandans have started a cocoa seedling project to help prevent future flooding, while providing an income to the local area residents.
I have partnered with Ugandan Water Project in Upstate New York. The name says it all. Your contribution will be tax deductable under a 501 (c) 3 number of EIN: (27-1481728). Upon receiving the suggested donation $150, you will receive a receipt. If you are signing up a team please put the number as 2. Each person can donate individually, but I will need a breakdown of your team. Leave the team name in the comments. If you need a team to play with we will do a blind draw. Everyone is welcome. IF you have a 4some and want to play together please place in the comments as well, but you are still playing best ball as a twosome.
