Do you love fresh fruits and vegetables? Join us for Food Preservation Fun with 4-H and discover the amazing world of preserving your favorite foods! This hands-on camp is designed for kids aged 10 -13 and will teach you the safe and exciting techniques of food preservation, turning summer's bounty into delicious treats you can enjoy all year round.

Get ready to:

• Explore the science of preservation: Discover how canning, freezing, and drying work to keep food fresh and delicious. We'll learn about food safety and the importance of following proper procedures.
• Master preservation techniques: Get hands-on experience with different preservation methods, including canning fruits and vegetables, making jams and jellies, and drying herbs and snacks.
• From garden to jar: Learn about the journey of food from the garden to the jar, and the importance of locally grown produce. We may even get to visit a local farm!
• Taste the goodness: Sample the fruits (and veggies!) of our labor. We'll enjoy the delicious things we preserve and learn how to use them in recipes.
• Food safety first: Learn the essential rules of food safety and hygiene to ensure that our preserved foods are safe and healthy to eat.
• Creative canning: Decorate your jars and create personalized labels for your preserved goodies.

Our experienced Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Agent will guide campers through each step of the process, ensuring a safe and fun learning environment. We'll emphasize teamwork, kitchen safety, and the importance of preserving our food resources.

All youth must be registered in 4-H Online to attend this camp.

4-HOnline is a secured system that is in compliance with the PCI Security Standards Council that houses our medical and consent forms, which are necessary for all clubs and programs. Please choose “Member At Large” for club and “Camping” for projects, when prompted.
