An introductory mountain biking session for home ed kids aged 8-11.
We'll cover core riding skills, biking games and as much trail riding as we can fit in. There will be a variance in ability/experience within the group, the level of challenge will be matched to the group and the pace will be casual. Nobody will have to ride anything they're not comfortable with (they'll be encouraged but never forced), and the emphasis will be on having a good time out on the bike, trying/learning something new, and sharing experiences with others. That's what all HBA sessions are about.
This is not an introduction to cycling. Participants will already need to be able to confidently and competently start/stop riding, navigate corners/obstacles/change direction, and have reasonable experience riding off road paths. Get in touch if you're unsure of suitability.
What do I need to bring: Your bike, medication, helmet, gloves, extra layers, change of clothing, lunch, plenty drinks & snacks and a small rucksack to carry it in when out riding. Riders must be able to carry their own medication, inhalers, epipens etc. Excess items can be left in the van when out riding. Bikes, helmets, gloves and knee pads may be available for hire.
Start/finish location: Evanton Community Wood, Woodland Classroom/Cabin.
