...IV and the STRANGE BAND (Nashville, TN)...
Youtube Video

As the great-grandson of Hank Williams Sr., grandson of Hank Williams Jr., and only son of Hank 3, Coleman spent years waging an internal battle with the expectations thrust upon him by his own lineage. He represented the fourth generation of country music's most legendary family — hence his nickname, "IV" — and the pressure to launch his own career was enormous. Although Coleman would eventually make his mark with Southern Circus — the genre-bending debut from his band, IV and the Strange Band, combining southern storytelling and country textures with 100-watt guitar amps and DIY attitude — he needed to break free first and discover his own musical approach along the way.

"Before I even knew who I was, people were already expecting things of me," he says. "It felt like there was zero freedom of expression for someone with the last name 'Williams.' Singing about a bloodline didn't appeal to me, though. I wasn't interested in fitting into a shadow that already existed. What did appeal to me was the underground scene in Nashville."

Coleman became a fierce champion of Nashville's house-show circuit as a teenager, drawn in by the scene's supportive spirit and DIY ethics. This was a community that valued principles over pedigrees. A community that offered artists of all stripes a place to express themselves. From punk shows to heavy metal gigs to electronic experiments, Coleman loved it all… and for the first time in his life, he felt like he belonged somewhere.

"I was a weird kid who grew up in an unusual situation," he says. "When I began going to house shows in Nashville, I felt like I'd found a family of people whom nobody else wanted — kids who were different and misunderstood — and during these two-hour shows, everyone belonged, everyone felt accepted, and everyone had a place. The experience taught me to trust my instincts. It gave me a new sense of independence. I have to believe that's why Hank Williams made music, too; he could see what it did for people."

... JOSEPH HUBER (*Milwaukee, WI*) ...
Youtube Video

Youtube Video

Is a singer, songwriter, performer, recorder and producer of all of his own material, As one of the founding member of the .357 String Band–a group that would probably fit better in today's 'Americana-saturated' environment than in the early to middle aughts–he's gradually honed a sound that seems to fill a very real gap within the still-emerging genre.
Having progressed, Huber continues moving onward and upward captivating folks with his sincere and well-crafted songs under his own name along with the impeccable musicianship of his fellow touring partners. Whether it's irresistible, fiddle-driven, dancing tunes or honest, heart-wrenching "songwriter" songs, Huber's songs and shows spans the spectrum of 'Roots' music while preferring not to stay within the boundaries of any strict genre classification.

RJ HALSTEAD (**Janesville, WI**) ......................

You wouldn’t expect an Americana/Country singer songwriter to have grown up hating country. Nor would you expect him to have only picked up the guitar seriously in college after being discouraged by a childhood guitar teacher. But RJ Halstead is all those things and more.
Having started out as a metal fan, he now sees his primary influences as acts like Benjamin Todd and Tyler Childers.
RJ Halstead’s musical evolution is a unique one, but it has lead to a distinct vision.
RJ Halstead came up playing his homemade cigar box guitar everywhere from intimate house shows and dive bars to major festivals. He understands the spirit of his home in the Midwest. When you come from a town as tiny as Dalzell, IL (Population 500) surrounded by corn and bean fields you get a real sense of what makes the people around you click. It’s what inspired him to pick up a bass in high school, and then once more dedicate himself to the guitar with a passion in college.

SOVIET SHIKSA is the amalgamation of late nights watching horror movies, apathetic stand up routines and an ever evolving roster of personal heroes that may or may not be dead already.
Screams fill your ears while gasoline and sweat permeate the air. Evoking thoughts of murder, wet dreams, and an overwhelming sense of doom.
