The Australian Balloon Association is excited to announce our next Progressive Training Day, taking place in Melbourne on Sunday 29th June, 2025.
This training is a hands on, and in person event, jam packed with classes from 3 talented instructors. Morning tea, afternoon tea and lunch is provided and included.
With a variety of designs & topics covered, there is something for everyone to learn! You will be able to take part in all classes offered throughout the day, you won’t miss any topic or instructor.
There will also be plenty of time for networking and socialising with like-minded balloon professionals and business owners, and our incredible supplier members.
Instructor #1: Tania & Kim Kirby from Up Up ‘N Away Balloons & Prop Hire
Based in Swan Hill in regional Victoria with 10+ years in business. Tania is the balloon artist and brains behind the business, while Kim is hands on with creating custom built props, backdrops & signage. Their class will discuss all things related to props & backdrops, with advice on elevating your offerings with trending designs.
Instructor #2: Maria & Chris Theodorou from Marypop It Balloon Styling
Servicing Melbourne Victoria, as a family-owned balloon styling business with humble beginnings to create decorations for their own childrens’ parties. Maria & Chris can do it all, proudly specialising in metallic balls (aka loon balls & PVC balls), ceiling tassels, mosaics and organics garlands. Their class will showcase Loon Balls, including sculptured arrangements and helium filled options.
Instructor #3 AND #4: Claire Geldard, The Party’s Here & Lauren Miller, Bondi Road Balloons
Based in SW Sydney with 20+ years in business, Claire is experienced in retail, marketing & managing a team.
Lauren brings high energy, creativity, & enthusiasm to both the Bondi local community & our balloon industry.
Lauren & Claire are teaming up to provide helpful tips for designing sellable arrangements suitable for delivery. Join them for a fun challenge to finish the day, with prizes to be won!

SCHEDULE:
10am: Registration, morning tea & networking time
11am - 12.30pm: Class #1 and #2 (run concurrently)
12.30pm - 1.30pm: Lunch break
1.30pm - 3.00pm: Class #1 and #2 (run concurrently)
3.00pm - 3.30pm: Afternoon tea
3.30pm - 5.00pm: Class session #3 (run once for everyone to take part)
