-SONG CIRCLE-

Time: 14:00-17:00

Txana Siriani (Minna) and Rua Inu will be leading the song circle and guide us through the sacred prayers. This is a great opportunity to study indigenous songs and healing music, open up our voice and connect with the tribe.

Bring your instruments (drums, rattles, guitars etc), your voice and your beautiful self, and let's create music together! There will also be an opportunity for you to share a song with the support of the circle if you feel the calling to do so. Herbal tea will be served during the afternoon, and feel free to bring snacks to share with the group.

-HAMPAYA INITIATION-

Time: 11:00-13:00

Hampaya is an initiation ritual practised by the Huni Kuin people to be able to enter onto the path of the Txana. Txana is a title used by students of Huni Kuin spirituality who are experts in their ancestral prayers and songs, and serve as healers, teachers and leaders.

🐤 The txana is also a bird, which in English is known as the Yellow-rumped Cacique. The txana is a very sacred bird and trusted teacher and ally for the Huni Kuin people. They are very intelligent, communicative and social birds, known for being masters at imitating the sounds of nature. The Huni Kuin people consider the txana bird an important messenger because it e.g. warns of approaching visitors and weather conditions. They also consider the txana a great learner, teacher and healer because of its ability to learn and communicate what it hears with such ease and precision.

It is for this reason that the Huni Kuin invoke and transmit the spirit of this sacred bird through the Hampaya initiation. Huni Kuĩ students, singers, musicians, healers, teachers, and political leaders (and anyone who feels the calling) seek the txana initiation of Hampaya to assist them in their study and work.

🕊 In the Hampaya initiation, an experienced Txana (singer/healer), applies a paste made of strong chilli peppers onto the tip of the tongue of the initiate, while praying and invoking the spirit of the txana bird. Through the process, the one being initiated receives the spirit of the txana bird as well as the knowledge of the experienced Txana who is applying the chilli.

The chilli induces a cleansing process that causes salivation, which cleanses the body of energies that interfere with the ability to hear, learn and communicate clearly. Depending on the chilli and the recipient, the process can take approximately 5 to 20 minutes. After the cleansing it is time to practise the art/skill that one wishes to develop. There is also a diet of 1-3 days, when it is good to restrict the consumption of salt and sugar.

About the facilitators:

RUA INU is an ambassador of the Huni Kuin people from the Kaxinawa Indigenous Territory along Jordão river in the state of Acre, Brazil. He was born to a family with strong pajés (shamans) in both lineages of his parents. He has been studying and practicing Huni Kuin spirituality and healing arts since childhood with his father, Pajé Meka, as well as various relatives and teachers. He is an artist and a gifted Txana (singer of traditional prayers). From an early age, Rua Inu received several visions and messages from his teachers and guides that he would one day travel far to represent his people and bring healing to others with the help of his ancestral knowledge.

TXANA SIRIANI (Minna), a native of Finland, grew up as a third culture kid in many countries around the world. Since an early age she has been passionate about spirituality and the healing arts. Since 2015 she has been on an intensive journey of plant medicine study, initiations and committed integration of the healings and teachings that she has received from the medicine path. She has received training in trauma informed plant medicine facilitation, and has been a leading player in the plant medicine community in her home country – dedicated to creating a trauma-informed, responsible and safe medicine culture. She is passionate about finding holistic approaches to building bridges between worlds, cultures, traditions, modalities, body-mind-heart-soul, science & spirit, with the goal of finding harmony at all levels of existence.

Txana Siriani’s journey with the Huni Kuin began in 2017. She and Rua Inu first met in 2022. In 2023 they got married and committed to walking and working together in service of Spirit, the sacred medicines, and their families and communities.
