Peter has officially made it back to Lake Michigan and is on the final stretch of his Clockwise Great Loop journey by canoe — paddling against the current! 💪🏽 🛶
We are estimating his arrival back in Escanaba sometime during the first week of October, when he will step foot on the very same beach he departed from on June 27, 2024. As we get closer and have a clearer idea of the exact day/time, this event page will be updated. Stay tuned for updates!
📌 Important Note: Peter’s official Welcome Home Party will take place on Saturday, October 11th, 2-7 PM at the Escanaba Country Club. That event will have its own separate event page for RSVPs. Both the beach arrival and the party are open to the public, and we’d love to see you at both!
Peter Frank left Escanaba Beach on June 27, 2024 and has spent over a year paddling against the current on the Great Loop. Peter will be the youngest documented to have navigated The Great Loop solo and unsupported in any vessel and he did it in a canoe. At 22 years old, Peter embarked on this ambitious journey starting from Escanaba, Michigan. He is now 24-years-old. His route spans approximately 6,000 miles, navigating through the Atlantic and Gulf Intracoastal Waterways, the Great Lakes, Canadian Heritage Canals, and various inland U.S. rivers.
Peter is notably one of few documented people to have paddled the Great Loop solo in a clockwise direction, which is considered the more challenging route. This direction requires paddling against the current on several major rivers by man-power alone. Most other solo circumnavigations of the Great Loop are completed counterclockwise, utilizing the natural flow of these rivers.
