For nearly 60 years Morgan Davis has been playing the blues, travelling across Canada, the U.S. and Europe. His performances draw from a lifelong study of the rich tradition of country blues, re-interpreting songs of the 1920s and 30s on electric instruments. His original compositions are infused with wit and a good dose of humour.
Bowskill began performing at a young age, and first played on stage at the age of eleven at Jeff Healey's club in Toronto, Ontario.[2][3] "They wouldn’t let an 11-year-old inside his club, so I started busking on the side- walk outside," Jimmy recalls in Guitar Player Magazine "Jeff heard about me, invited me in to play, and I did pretty well. I got a lot of gigs and exposure just from that one night."[4] Healey's bassist, Alec Fraser, provided studio time for Bowskill, and eventually he signed a deal with Ruf Records. The next year he recorded his first album, Old Soul, and performed on the main stage at the Peterborough Folk Festival.
That Steve Marriner has accomplished as much as he has in the past decade, remains a story that continues to impress on a variety of fronts and for a variety of reasons.
Simply put, it is nothing short of astounding that this Ottawa-raised, Toronto-based musician has driven, guided and participated in so many impressive and acclaimed recording and live performance projects. The multi-instrumentalist, song writing singer sits at, or near the top of the list, as “Canada’s hardest working person in show biz.
