Cycles that Feed the Farm and the Farmers: Soil, Seed, and System Thinking

Join us at Mimosa Breeding & Research in Orton for a deep dive into soil, seed, and system thinking with renowned plant breeder and farmer-led researcher Duane Falk.

We’ll tour five diverse field stops—including potatoes, winter cereals, and oats—and explore Duane’s innovative 5-year organic rotation that builds soil fertility, resilience, and seed self-reliance. Learn about saving seed from cover crops, practical strategies for low-input fertility, and planning rotations that work across time and space.

We'll wrap the day with a bring-your-own-lunch and community discussion on the tools, systems, and mindset needed to farm ecologically in a changing climate.
