What is qigong and how does it work?

Qigong pronounced “chi gong” was developed in China thousands of years ago and is one of the four branches of traditional Chinese medicine (You’ve seen all this pictures of people practicing outdoors in parks…). It involves using gentle exercises and the breath to optimize energy and the body-mind connection with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being both psychological and physical components.

Qigong is a complimentary approach to health and is widely recognized for its healing benefits and can be practiced by almost anyone at any age and physical ability. Qigong Exercises emphasize the breath and conscious movement and posture.

With our busy lives we are holding our breath due to stress and not moving enough. Qigong Exercise is a form of preventative medicine that helps to detoxify the blood and nullify the ill effects of stress.

The focus of our first 10 weeks will focus on learning self regulation through breath and movement and its potential to calm our internal systems to reduce stress and inflammation.

Qigong can also offer healing for an array of different aches and pains like headaches, back pain, stomach pain, neck pain, carpal tunnel etc. These may be addressed in future programs.
