WPA Class l Instructor Certification Training is the ultimate foundation for all SUP enthusiast and instructors.
The WPA Class I training prepares instructors to safely and confidently lead groups on any type of open water. In the training you will improve your own paddle technique and turning skills as well as learn the best techniques of how to instruct others in a SUP class.
Earn your WPA Level l Instructor Certification and learn to safely paddle and Instruct others on the water.
You will understand the difference between board styles, proper care, how to repair and confidently transport boards as well as learn boating laws, safety, who has the right of way, and local considerations.
Become able to recognize weather patterns, conditions, wind and tides.
Most importantly, we will cover injury prevention, water safety, and rescue techniques. As well as, learn and demonstrate how to assist yourself and others in a rescue.
You do not want to lead a group on any body of water without this training. It's a must for any SUP teacher!
The World Paddle Associate Class 1 instructor certification course curriculum includes classroom and on water training as part of the water safety education class.

Any paddle boarder may attend this WPA Water Safety class however must meet the following criteria before being listed and instructing as a WPA Certified Instructor.
Requirements:
CPR/First Aid certificate (must attend a class instructed by an American Heart Association or American Red Cross certified instructor)
Proof of liability insurance coverage
80% on certification exam

Our World Paddle Association Class I training is lead by Jana Rife WPA Class II instructor, PaddleFit PRO coach and an E-RYT 500 Yoga Instructor. She is one of the few in the country that can provide the training and certify others to be a Class I instructor. It's the foundation of our SUP Yoga Teacher Training and what separates us from the others.
Hanalei SUP Yoga founder and instructor Jana Rife holds an E-RYT 500 hour yoga teacher training certification registered with Yoga Alliance, a level 2 paddle board yoga certification from Lazy Dog Paddle Yoga in Key West, Florida, she is a PaddleFit PRO coach and has a World Paddle Association Class II Instructor Certification. Jana is also a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). Jana is passionate about sharing her knowledge of SUP and yoga in a safe and enjoyable way.
