Thursday, August 14th performers – Chris Rodgers & Reid Warren Duo
Small town born and raised, Chris Rodgers brings the best of rural Canadian sensibilities to his performing with his country and gospel-inspired clear cutting vocals, guitar, and harmonica work. In addition, drawing on his British and Irish roots, he has also taken up other folk instruments such as the tin whistle and the bodhran. Having lived in a number of diverse and character-rich places such as Scotland, Sudbury and now rural Ottawa, Chris imparts an unparalleled authenticity and sense of history when performing, particularly to his Celtic and folk tunes. Reid Warren began playing violin at the age of 5 and quickly discovered a love of traditional fiddle music. He has spent many summers travelling to fiddle contests playing traditional Canadian old time fiddle music but has developed a passion for bluegrass music. Reid is a student at East Tennessee State University in the bluegrass program and studies fiddle, guitar, and voice with some of the top names in bluegrass music. He has been fortunate enough to share the stage with some of the Ottawa area’s finest performers. Reid’s blend of Canadian tradition and bluegrass influence makes him a high-energy and skillful fiddle player. During the summer months, he performs as a musician at Upper Canada Village.
