PAM HOWARD "Keep On Smiling" +POTLUCK!

ML member Pam Howard will speak about how she physically lost her ability to smile, and the challenges she faces with not being able to smile. She will explore the psychology of smiling and how smiling improves our emotional health.

This presentation aligns closely with legacy UU Principle #1:

PAM HOWARD is an Atlanta native with deep southern family roots. She grew up living south of Atlanta and moving to north Atlanta after graduating high school and began attending Kennesaw University and then Oglethorpe University. Married and pregnant with her first child, she discontinued her college career in favor of full time employment as an administrative assistant. Her second child was born 8 years later and she soon became a single mom to two until she married Tom Howard in 2000.

With Tom's support she was able to obtain her certification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). But before she was able to obtain employment in her new field she and Tom became full time guardians of their first grandchild . Her focus switched to family and the pursuit of serving in her faith.

She and Tom became Deacons at their church and supported a group of fellow church members. Pam was ordained by Liberty Church in Marietta to be a Prison Minister where she sat on the Ministry Board at The Atlanta Detention Center and was active as a preacher in the woman’s dorms. Pam stepped down from ministry after much research into her faith and discovering she had become an atheist. Pam and Tom bought a vacation home in Ellijay in 2013 and moved there full time in 2020.

Pam began attending MLUUC in 2021 and later became a member. Pam has had many hobbies and interests over the years including taking acting lessons for theater and film and consequently landed many roles in community theater and student films from SCAD and Georgia State. She was an extra in several movies and tv shows. Pam began learning electric guitar three years ago and is still learning today. She mostly dabbles in hard rock and thrash metal at home in her music corner.

She spends her time learning and playing music, spending time with her granddaughters and attending MLUUC. She still has a passion for studying the historicity of the Christian Bible and religion.
