Ellensburg Dance Ensemble presents ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas
Audition Date: Saturday, May 31st, 4:30 PM
Location: The Studio by EDE, 118 East 4th Ave, Ellensburg
Join us for auditions for ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, an original ballet featuring challenging choreography for advanced dancers while also welcoming intermediate dancers. This ballet-focused production brings the magic of the holiday season to the stage! We have a special need for dancers en pointe. Ages 8 and up are invited to audition.

Roles Available:
Narrator (recorded spoken role)
Santa Claus (en pointe dancer)
Father (classical ballet role, pas de deux with Mother)
Mother (graceful, warm presence, pas de deux with Father)
Children (Two or More) (playful ballet/character roles)
Sugar Plum Visions (ensemble of sugar plums, dance in children’s dream)
Christmas Tree Decorations – gingerbread dancers, peppermint fairies, candy canes (ballet)
Christmas Presents (ballet)
Elves (character dance)
Lead Mouse & House Mice (character dance, tumbling?, mischievous)
Grandfather Clock Spirit, Dream Spirits (lyrical ballet)
Enchanted Dolls (lyrical ballet)
Toy Soldiers (character dance, precision ballet)
Christmas Tree Angels (lyrical ballet dancers)
Eight Reindeer (high-energy ensemble, jumps and acrobatics)
Audition Expectations & Preparation:
Dancers should arrive early to warm up and prepare for a ballet-based audition, including center work and across-the-floor combinations.
Pointe dancers should bring their pointe shoes and be ready to demonstrate technique.
Some dancers may be asked to demonstrate character movement or tumbling.
Be prepared to learn and perform short choreography sequences.
Wear appropriate dance attire (leotard, tights, ballet shoes or pointe shoes as applicable).
Additional Auditions: If you cannot attend the May 31st audition, another opportunity will be available on September 20th. Dancers are welcome to attend both auditions.
Rehearsal Schedule:
Rehearsals begin the weekend of September 27 and will be held:
Saturdays: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM (or longer as needed)
Sundays: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM (as needed)
Some solo rehearsals for advanced dancers may be scheduled on weeknight evenings.
**Rehearsals will take place the weekend after Thanksgiving and no absences will be approved after November 3rd. **
Performance Dates: December 11-14
Tech Week: Begins December 7th
Production Fees & Discounts:
A $50 production fee helps cover the cost of costumes and other production expenses.
Dancers who help find show sponsors will have their production fee waived.
Production members receive a 10% discount on dance classes at The Studio by EDE.
