The Power of Connection: Our Stories, Our Strength is a free mental health event dedicated to fostering community, inclusion, and well-being on our GBC campuses. Sponsored by the NV Energy Foundation, this special day will feature an inspiring keynote speaker, two interactive workshop sessions, and a small resource fair with local partners offering tools and information. Attendees will also enjoy a complimentary lunch, engaging activities, and opportunities to connect, reflect, and recharge. Join us as we celebrate the strength found in our stories and the power of connection.
Date & Location: This event will be on Thursday, November 13th from 9am-1pm and located on each of our GBC Campuses/Centers in Elko, Winnemucca, Ely, and Pahrump.
Cost: This event is free and open to all GBC students and the public
Event Timeline:
9-10am Keynote Speaker Cody Semrau, the founder and CEO of BetterMynd (an online teletherapy platform for college students)
10-11am Workshop Session 1
11am-12pm Workshop Session 2
12:00-1pm Lunch, interactive activities, and information booths sharing local mental health resources
Workshop A: a self-care focused workshop led by our Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society members, where participants will be able to stuff their own plushie to take home with them
Workshop B: a guided journaling workshop led by our Humanities Center Coordinator, Katie Karnehm-Esh, which will provide a complimentary journal and pen
