7-8pm - Bachata (Open Level)

8-9pm - Bachata (Intro to Bachata Sensual)

9-10:30pm - Bachata Pratica (included with either/both programs, or can be purchased in a set of 4 without the dance programs)

7-8pm - Bachata (Open Level)

This 4 week Bachata program is an open level program for both new and experienced dancers. The curriculum is designed to develop participants for social dancing. As in all of our programs, we use a curated collection of shines (footwork patterns), drills, and partnerwork patterns to build up all of the foundational skills the participant needs to become proficient as social dancers.

The shines and patterns in this progressive program will begin by grounding the movements in the foundations of the dance. By the 4th week, the program will reach an advanced beginner level. "Open Level" programs are open to both new dancers and to those who have developed enough capacity to social dance. We encourage participants to glean what they can from the lessons without taking on the pressure of learning and remembering the shines and patterns in their entirety.

8-9pm - Bachata (Intro to Sensual Bachata )

This 4 week Bachata program is an introduction to the more recent expression of Bachata dancing and music often called "Sensual Bachata" in the U.S., or "Bachata Sensual" in Spanish speaking countries.

This program will assume knowledge of the foundations of Bachata as it comes to us from its Domincan roots, however, it will focus on the more recent system "Bachata Sensual." In this program, we will progress through the Level 1 curriculum of Bachata Sensual as taught by the founders of this style, Korke & Judith of Spain.

This program will introduce participants to new basic steps and movements that are intrinsic to the Bachata Sensual system like body waves, head rolls, and upper & lower body isolations, and focus on the repetition of those moves which will come together as a pattern by the last class of the program. Please see the video of the bachata demonstration in this Eventbrite description to gain a sense of how this style of bachata has both a common foundation, as well as a fundamental difference from traditional Bachata dancing.

9-10:30pm - Bachata Pratica

The Bachata Pratica is a time to gain time and experience in Bachata social dancing. We will only play Bachata for the full duration of this pratica. Particpants are encouraged to practice what they've learned, try new moves and techniques, and social dance. There will be no formal instruction during this time but exploring questions is highly encouraged.

The Bachata Pratica is included with either or both of the Bachata programs, but it can also be purchased in a set of 4 sessions without the classes.
