This is a free all ages event.
Chris Dennis, a Southern Illinois author, will read from his article,
“We Were Hungry”.
There will be a Q & A as well as a book signing.
Please note Chris's work is written for adults and contains mature themes and language. It may not appeal to all audiences. Chris will offer books for sale and signing, but a purchase is not required to attend this event.
Biography:
Chris Dennis is the author of the story collection Here Is What You Do. His stories and essays have appeared in The Paris Review, Granta, McSweeney's, Astra, Lit Hub, Guernica and Best American Essays 2023. He is the recipient of an NEA Fellowship, the Krause Essay Prize, and a New York Times Sidney Award for long-form journalism. A graduate and fellow of the Writing program at Washington University in St. Louis, he currently lives in Southern Illinois where he manages a substance use recovery program at Egyptian Health Department.
