This event will highlight a range of brand-new amenities designed to enhance visitor experience while ensuring greater accessibility and sustainability, including:
• A new ADA-accessible walkway leading directly to the iconic Lake Michigan pier
• Modern restroom facilities
• A new picnic pavilion with shaded seating area
• An expanded parking lot and second access point to Lake Michigan
This project was made possible by the collaborative efforts of community members, funders, public officials, and volunteers who share a deep love for Elberta’s natural beauty and public spaces. The Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund, the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy, and The Nature Conservancy all played a significant role in supporting this project.
🪂 Event Highlights:
• A skydiving demonstration by Skydive Charlevoix, launching from the Frankfort Dow Memorial Airport
• Hang gliding demonstration by the Greenpoint Flyers Association (GFA) – (if weather permits they will launch and land on Elberta Beach; if not they will bring a glider to the beach for demonstration purposes)
• “Let’s Go Fly a Kite”—a family-friendly activity hosted by the Frankfort-Elberta Chamber of Commerce
• Light refreshments provided
• 3:30 PM – Plaque dedication honoring project supporters
• An official ribbon-cutting ceremony
• A community meet-and-greet with village leaders, volunteers, and project partners
This celebration is open to the public, and all are welcome—families, neighbors, visitors, and friends. Bring your beach chairs, your kites, and your sense of adventure.
