About the artists:
Jillian Matundan, multi-instrumental singer-songwriter, trade unionist, and first-generation Filipina American has delighted audiences with her resonant vocals, acute and relatable observations matched with her unique guitar-style and sense of humor. Hailing from Syracuse, NY, Jillian has been a musician since the ripe age of three, when she picked up a violin and began training as a concert violinist a mere few years later. Along the way, she picked up a number of instruments, many self-taught, including the guitar. After a fifteen year hiatus from writing music, she ventured to local open mics in 2019 and has been on a tear ever since, winning multiple songwriting awards and recognitions (15 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest awards, including two gold), collaborating, playing, and recording with other musicians; while playing venues that include Club Passim, The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall, Jammin’ Java, and the Edwards Opera House. She has opened for Susan Werner, Natalia Zuckerman, Jesse Terry, RJ Cowdery, Rachael Kilgour, Geneviève Racette, Scott Cook, Michael Clem (Eddie from Ohio), Greg Howards, and Anne Hills. Singing to the Moon, her first full-length album, debuted at No. 6 on the FAI Folk Chart in March 2024. For more information, visit her website at jillianmatundan.com
Blend a powerful singer, crisp acoustic guitar player and a heartfelt observer of the world and you have singer-songwriter, Lynn Hollyfield. The resulting blend~her own voice mingling wit, a silky sweetness and thoughtful reverie to her songwriting and performance. Hollyfield has three solo recordings, Layers (2010) and In the Balance (2014) and her recent release, Look Up (May 2024). Look Up is listed in the TOP Albums and Lynn Hollyfield is in the TOP Artists on the Folk Alliance International DJ Playlist for June, July & August 2024. The 2 earlier recordings listed in the Top Albums of the year-Folk DJ Playlist and received numerous Washington Area Music Award nominations including Album, Songwriter and Artist of the Year.
