Our season concludes on Saturday, May 10!
"Stories and Seasons" is inspired by the coming of spring, elements of nature, and times of change in human life. Including madrigals from the Renaissance, arrangements of folk music, settings of fine poetry, and even a couple of hit records, this spring concert features the tremendous variety of music that Vocal Alchemy members enjoy learning and performing.
This afternoon program includes favourites like "Shenandoah" and "Red River Valley"; Pete Seeger's "Turn, turn, turn" and the Broadway hit "Seasons of Love." The choir will perform in English, French, Cree, and Vietnamese.
We are pleased to feature our assistant conductor Britney Huynh, who will conduct several pieces on this program. Last season Vocal Alchemy had the opportunity to dip its toe into singing in Vietnamese with her guidance, and this spring we will feature an arrangement of the beautiful folk song Qua Cầu Gió Bay, led by Britney.
Our own Kim Cousineau will be featured at the piano throughout the concert.
