BIO:
After having a career competing and breeding horses I was looking for something similar in dogs.
In 1981, while at a dog show, I watched a video of a dog competing at an IGP trial, then called Schutzhund.
As I had competed in three day eventing with my horses, this really appealed to me.
My first dog in the sport was a free to good home, 24 month old German Shepherd male, with no previous training. Fourteen months later, he had his three.
Because I was not really a specifically breed oriented trainer, after that, I trained Rottweilers, Bouviers, Belgian Malinois, Dobermans and a Hovawart.
I competed and placed second in the German Bouvier Championship with Banjo vom schwarzen Baren and also placed second and third with him at the DVG Nationals. I also had several Podium placements with my GSD, Cliff vom Geiersnest and represented DVG America three times at the DHV Championship with him and placed third at the USA Nationals.
In 2005 I placed second and third at DVG Nationals with my GSD Enno vom Fuchstein and a friend's Malinois.
I then represented DVG America at the DHV Championship with both dogs.
Went on to compete 2 more years with Enno, placing second at the DVG Championship in 2006 and the win the Championship with him in 2007.
Over my career in dogs I also trained a female Malinois from my own breeding to a three but unfortunately lost her to pancreatic cancer at three before we could really start competing.
I have been the President and training director for our DVG club since 1984 and have assisted many handlers with various breeds in titling and competing at National and International level with their dogs.
At the present time, I am breeding and training Bouviers I have trained and titled several dogs of this breed and at this stage in my life, they have become my breed of choice. I am presently training two young females, Tesni and Laramae. Tesni was bred in Holland by Anton Timmers and Laramae is from my own breeding.
I love this sport and am very grateful to all of the wonderful dogs I have had the privilege of training and the many wonderful people I have met through it.
I really enjoy helping people to train their dogs and being part of their journey
