Debuting at the 2025 Edmonton Fringe Festival is a queer, Catholic, coming-of-age comedy about one man’s journey though university and beyond!
This is a new work written by Aldrick Dugarte for the Fringe, but he has been writing various aspects of the show (in his head and in the margins of many a tattered journal) for the past six years. Inherently Disordered is a one-man, gay-ass comedy about the misadventures in coming-out as both queer and Catholic to friends and family, who might find it easy to accept one of those attributes…but both?! Aldrick details both coming-out journeys with humour and introspection, interweaving political context while taking the piss out of terrible roommates, drunken adventures, the existential crisis of his nine-year old self, a first crush, gangs of Chicago, and more.
Inherently Disordered adds Aldrick's perspective to the coming-of-age genre and provides space to laugh at some of the hardships and absurdities which comprise coming out.
