Edinburgh Therapy centre
Queen Charlotte Street, Leith, Edinburgh
7th and 8th of June from 10 am - 5pm
This weekend offers not only yoga and sound, but also time to reflect.
We are offering a gentle fusion of yoga, sound healing and personal reflection in a supportive group. Also expect some delicious food to accentuate the nourishment of body and mind.
We will be working with yin yoga for balance with flow to lift the energy, breath work to equalise and steady life force energy in the body, and Gong baths to deepen the healing. We will also have the opportunity to share thoughts and feelings.
Yoga and sound both reach inner thoughts and feelings allowing them to surface and open up emotional holding patterns. They also bring a sense healing within the central nervous system, soothing anxious thoughts and feelings, as experienced psychotherapists we offer a group reflective space to share openly about what comes up for you.
Yin Yoga
Yin is gentle, slow paced and mat-based yoga which is suitable for any “body” whether you are completely new to yoga, you have practiced other forms or a seasoned yin practitioner. Most Yin poses are seated/lying down and everything that is offered is simply a choice, so you may alter the poses or length of time held to suit you and how you feel in the moment.
Our room is a peaceful and restful space, with soft lighting, mats, bolsters, blankets and eye pillows. You are welcome to bring your own mat, cushion, or anything else that helps you to feel comfortable.
Gong baths
Sometimes called sound healing is experienced lying down on mats. They begin with gentle guided relaxation, leading into a period of time where gongs and other percussion instruments are played. The sounds can affect the physical and emotional. People often have experience of visualisations, waking dream like states, deep relaxation, and clarity of thoughts and feelings. The vibrations can take you into a state of natural balance and harmony.
Reflective space
As we settle in and meet each other, we will spend time cultivating safety and trust within the group. This will form a foundation for us to be able to share reflections, thoughts and feelings during the reflective sessions built into the schedule across both days.
As psychotherapists Daniel and Kim are able to guide the group and ensure that all participants feel able to reflect. However, there is no expectation to share deeply or in fact anything at all. At various points you might wish to remain silent and listen, reflect on thoughts or feelings that the experiences throughout the day such as the yin and gongs evoke.
