20 Years of Hamish McHaggis: A storytime special with Linda Strachan

Hamish McHaggis is celebrating his birthday and the 20th Anniversary of the much loved picture book series. Come along for this special storytime and join in with some fun activities. Hear all about Hamish and his adventures with Jeannie the Osprey, Angus the Pine Marten and Rupert the Hedgehog. There may even be a surprise visit by Hamish himself.

About the books
Hamish McHaggis lives in his little Hoggle, hidden away in a secret glen in the highlands of Scotland, with his friends Angus, a cheeky pine marten, Jeannie an inquisitive osprey and Rupert, a travelling English hedgehog.

The Hamish McHaggis series, written by award winning author Linda Strachan and illustrated by the talented illustrator Sally J.Collins, spans across nine books as Hamish and his friends embark on adventures around Scotland, visiting some of Scotland’s iconic landmarks and beautiful locations.


About the author
Linda Strachan is an award winning Scottish children's author of over 70 books for all ages. She has appeared at festivals, conferences, events and visited schools all over Scotland and beyond, including a tour of North Island, with the New Zealand Book Council. In 2025 she celebrates the 20th anniversary of her much-loved picture book series of 9 books featuring the cuddly Hamish McHaggis.
