Hands that Built It: The Stonework of Carrick’s Courthouse

The Dock presents Hands that Built It: The Stonework of Carrick’s Courthouse, a live demonstration and discussion exploring the craft, history and conservation of the courthouse’s historic stonework, on Thursday 29 May at 7.30pm.

Led by traditional stonemason and conservation specialist Dominic Keogh of Memento Mori Stonework, an experienced stonemason known for his dedication to preserving Ireland’s built heritage, this event will showcase the materials and craftsmanship behind Carrick-on-Shannon’s historic courthouse. Dominic will provide insight into the construction techniques of the 19th century and demonstrate the methods used today to repair and maintain these important cultural structures of our past.

This event is a great opportunity for anyone with an interest in history, architecture, conservation or traditional building skills to gain knowledge and appreciation for heritage stonework through an up-close look at traditional techniques.
