AONTAS — Irish Language Screenings

For Seachtain na Gaeilge 2026, The Dock will host two screenings of the 2025 Irish-language thriller 'AONTAS' on Wednesday 4 March at 11:30am and 7pm.

'AONTAS' follows three unlikely thieves, led by a woman on the verge of a breakdown, who rob a rural Irish Credit Union.

Opening in the tragic aftermath of the heist-gone-wrong, the story uses reverse chronology to unravel the events that led to this point. What starts as a poorly executed robbery becomes a portrait of a wilful woman trapped in her own past.

'AONTAS' is a fractured puzzle about the impact of our choices and the memories that we can’t escape.

Directed by Damian McCann and starring Carrie Crowley, Brid Brennan, and Eva-Jane Gaffney, the film won Best Feature and Best Director at the 2025 Manchester Film Festival.
