Lou Shields on The River Stage

Lou Shields is all about keeping the spirit of American music alive with his solo performances that blend classic styles. With his 1931 National Resonator Guitar or banjo, he creates a vibrant sound using foot percussion and harmonica, all while sharing captivating stories with his audience. With over 20 years of playing shows and touring in the U.S. and Europe, Lou has self-released 9 albums and 13 EPs. He got serious about playing guitar at 18, just after a woodworking accident that cost him part of two fingers. Undeterred, he adapted his playing and began performing in the Chicago area.
