UK CHINESE MUSIC ENSEMBLE - Sound of the Silk and Bamboo

Discover the rich sounds of Chinese music with the UK Chinese Music Ensemble!

Founded in 1998, this London-based group of classically trained musicians brings the diversity of Chinese musical traditions to global audiences. From traditional silk-and-bamboo sounds to innovative cross-genre performances, the ensemble has played over a thousand concerts worldwide — including at the British Museum, WOMEX, WOMAD, and the Olympic Torch Ceremonies.

They’ve collaborated with renowned artists like Lang Lang and Tan Dun, and contributed to film and TV productions such as Mulan, Shang-Chi, and Doctor Who. As a key part of the London International Chinese Music Festival, the ensemble continues to inspire through concerts, education, and cultural exchange.
