Ipswich West Moreton Auto Club (IWMAC) invites Impreza WRX Club of Queensland inc (WRX Club) members and friends to the 30 August 2025 “Come & Try” dirt track day.
UPDATE:
The event has now opened up to be a "Come & Try" and a "Test & Tune".
Alternating on-track sessions will be run for each of the two groups.
Registration and payment must be completed by 5:00pm on Friday 29 August 2025.
An additional $35 for a Motorsport Australia ‘Day Licence’ is payable at the IWMAC clubhouse on the day if you do not already have a Motorsport Australia ‘Speed’ licence (or higher).
[FYI if you subsequently apply for a Motorsport Australia ‘Speed’ licence within three months of the event, you will get a $35 discount on that.]
Essential item – non-flammable clothing
On track you must wear neck-to-wrist-to-ankle-to-throat non-flammable clothing and suitable shoes. A long-sleeved T-shirt, jeans and closed-in leather shoes with cotton socks will be fine. No nylon.

Essential item – Helmet
On track, you must wear a helmet that complies with AS1698. These can be purchased from motorcycle shops, motorsport suppliers and even Aldi sometimes. They need not be expensive. Open-face helmets are acceptable if they comply with AS1698.
Essential item – 3rd Party insurance “rally extension”
If your car is road-registered, you will need to contact your 3rd party insurer and obtain a “rally extension” from them for the “Come & Try” event.
This is very easy. For Suncorp, call 13 11 55 (then press 3 then 3). Suncorp usually email the Rally Extension the same day, however CTP insurers may differ so don’t leave this until late in the week pre-event.
Your CTP insurer will probably want to know the event name (“Come & Try”) and date (“30 August 2025”).
Note, this is your CTP insurer attached to your registration and not your comprehensive insurer.
Catering
WRX Club will put on a sausage-sizzle for lunch and will also supply chilled soft drinks & water bottles.
Drivers under 18 years old
The event shall be open only to persons over 14 years of age who obtain a Motorsport Australia ‘Day Licence’ or who hold a Motorsport Australia ‘Speed’ or ‘Speed Junior’ Licence.
If any entrant is under 18 years of age, the consent of his/her parent or legal guardian must appear on their Entry Form (available on the day).
NOTE:
There may be a chance of passenger laps. If this might be something you would like to be involved with, bring a long-sleeved shirt, pants (all cotton / non flammable) and a helmet if you have one.
