Join us for a hands-on workshop where we will step into our old ancestral ways and craft our own mullein witch candles. Also called Hag Tapers or Witch’s Torches.
For centuries, the tall stalks of the mullein plant have been gathered, dried, and transformed into candles and torches. In ancient Greece and Rome, they lit pathways and temples; in European folk magic, they became known as “witch’s candles,” burned for protection, guidance, and banishing negativity. These natural torches carried both practical light and spiritual power, symbolizing illumination in the darkest nights.
In this workshop, we will:
✨ Learn the history and folklore of mullein witch candles.
✨ Craft and coat our own mullein stalks in natural wax, transforming them into ritual torches.
✨ Explore the magical correspondences of mullein :courage, protection, purification, and spiritual illumination.
✨ Close with a simple ceremony, igniting our candles to call in light, guidance, and ancestral wisdom.
This is more than a craft — it is a way of connecting to our ancestors, to the land, to the changing of seasons (pagan holidays), and to the traditions of fire as a sacred tool. You will leave with a finished mullein witch candle to use in your own rituals, whether for seasonal ceremonies, shadow work, or personal protection.
Why this matters:
In a time when our lives are lit by switches and screens, reviving the art of making fire-light with plants reconnects us with a deeper rhythm of life. Crafting and burning a mullein witch candle is a ritual of empowerment . A beautiful reminder that we can carry our own flame through the darkness.
👉🏽Please RSVP by October 15th ✨
