Camp Maqua - Images of America

Please join us for a presentation by Kathryn Baker, discussing her book, Camp Maqua - Images of America Series. Camp Maqua was a YWCA camp near Hale, Michigan, that operated from 1916 to 1978 and provided many memories for thousands of girls and boys. As part of her research, she interviewed over 300 former campers and scanned archival ledgers, camp committee minutes, director reports, newspaper clippings, and photographs. In 1987, her family purchased the Camp Maqua main lodge. Having met several of the former campers, she felt compelled to research just how important the camp was to the girls who stayed there. Please join us and see for yourself.
