Join us for a fun-filled day celebrating the natural world and local history at the Nye Museum! This family-friendly event offers hands-on activities, outdoor exploration, and a splash of nostalgia.
📍 Geocaching Adventures – Learn the basics of this modern-day treasure hunt and set off to find hidden caches around the museum grounds.
🐟 Historic Fish Hatchery Tours – Step back in time and discover how the old hatchery helped shape the region’s waterways and wildlife.
🔥 Outdoor Cooking Demos – Watch simple, delicious recipes prepared the old-fashioned way over an open fire.
🦆 Rubber Duck Race – Pick your duck and cheer it on as it races down the stream in a splashy showdown! (2PM)
🎨 Nature Crafts– Create nature-inspired crafts
📖 Gather ‘round for stories that bring local wildlife and folklore to life with special guest Meghan Bousquet from Titcomb’s Bookshop at 1PM
🐢 Pond Life Station – Participants dive into the fascinating world beneath the water’s surface. An expert guide will share insights into how creatures survive, interact, and thrive in their watery habitats.
Event will continue under tent coverage in the event of light rain. If there are extreme weather conditions, the event will be cancelled.
🏞️ Natural History & Landscape Change – Step back in time to discover how natural forces — and human hands — have shaped the landscapes we know today. Through maps, this station explores geological changes, the impact of climate shifts, and how wildlife and vegetation have responded.
🌿 Herb Gardening Station: Discover the joys of growing your own herbs! At this interactive station, visitors of all ages can explore the scents, textures, and uses of common culinary and medicinal herbs such as basil, mint, rosemary, and thyme. Learn how herbs are planted, cared for, and harvested — and why they’ve been treasured by cultures throughout history.
Perfect for curious minds of all ages! Bring your sense of adventure and enjoy a day of discovery, creativity, and fun in the great outdoors.
