Penquis is leading the Maine Highlands Economic Development Initiative, a collaborative effort to plan and design a sustainable business project that will create jobs for individuals from rural communities in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties. This initiative is one of ten projects nationwide to receive an Office of Community Services' Community Economic Development Planning Project grant. Stakeholders will work together to develop a plan for a business that will create full-time, year-round, permanent jobs. As part of this community-driven effort, Penquis is hosting regional meetings to hear directly from residents, local leaders, and organizations across the Maine Highlands. These sessions will provide updates on the planning process and invite participants to help shape the future of economic development in their area.
We want to hear from you! Here is some of the questions we will be asking.
Are you ready to be part of the conversation to be the solution to the needs of your community?
What does you community need for a service or business?
What kind of jobs would be helpful to have in your community?
What is the workforce in your community?
What are the gaps in your community?
What are the strengths of your community?
Do you or someone you know travel to work?
What skills do they have that could be used in your own community?
