After our short summer break Kontra returns with another classy bill:
BROKEN STAIRS – a welcome return to the club for this terrific trio offshoot of mighty big band Palmerston, featuring Alan Rondeau’s tuneful, wide-ranging and highly original songs, their vocals laced with fabulous multi-harmonies. These guys have played with the best and it shows! Top class.
STYLUSBOY – aka Coventry singer-songwriter Steve Jones, who creates indie folk music steeped in warm-hearted melodies and heartfelt lyrics that have won him rave-reviews and high praise: ‘Absolutely brilliant' (Justine Greene, BBC Radio 2); ‘a leading light among today’s new generation of DIY digital troubadours’ (Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6) Stylusboy is certainly a little bit special.
ANDREW BUCKLEY – we welcome back one of the most accomplished singer-songwriters on the local scene, Andrew is a creator of intelligent, hook-laden songs. Don’t be fooled by his self-deprecating stage persona, this is beautifully crafted acoustic pop of a very high order.
Another excellent night in prospect, 8pm start and still only £3 admission.
