About the event

2025 Cape Cod Bay Challenge
Stand-up paddle event to raise money for Christopher's Haven - a home for kids when cancer hits home

About this Event

The Cape Cod Bay Challenge (CCBC) is the oldest and most recognized standup paddle (SUP) event in the Northeast. 2025 is our 18th year running the event!

The primary goal of the CCBC is to raise funds for a truly wonderful non-profit organization, Christopher’s Haven. Located near Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Christopher’s Haven consists of nine fully furnished apartments and a community recreation area for families of children being treated for cancer in nearby Boston hospitals. www.christophershaven.org

This year the paddle will be in honor and memory of Joyce Duvall who was a founding member of and long time Executive Director at Christopher's Haven. Joyce loved the CCBC and she will be missed dearly.

Paddlers will have the following options to participate:

In-Person Paddle Options

There will be two options for the in-person paddle on Saturday, August 9th:

Distance Paddle (appr 16 miles)

  • 16-mile paddle from Duxbury Beach or Cohasset Harbor along the coast to the South River and then up the South River to the Keville Rail Trail Bridge near Levitate Surf Shop (1871 Ocean Street).
  • Paddlers will depart Duxbury Beach or Cohasset Harbor at appr 7:00 am. The location for the start will be made 2-days prior to the event based on wind & weather conditions
  • Paddlers will need to confirm that they have the experience and conditioning to complete the mileage required by the event. This is for experienced paddlers only and is not something you should attempt if you are new to the sport.
  • Upon arrival at the Rail Trail bridge, paddlers will exit the water and walk their boards across the street to the After Paddle Celebration which will take place - Levitate Backyard (from 12:30 pm-4:00pm).
  • Distance Paddlers must commit to put in the effort to raise at least $1,000 for Christopher's Haven. A link to set up a 2025 CCBC donation page will be provided after registration.

CCBC-Lite Paddle (appr 4-miles)

  • 4-mile paddle up the South River from Rexhame Beach (325 Standish St, Marshfield, MA) to the Keville Rail Trail Bridge near Levitate Surf Shop (1871 Ocean Street).
  • CCBC-Lite paddlers will wait for the Distance Paddlers to arrive at Rexhame Beach and then will join the paddle up the South River to the finish.
  • CCBC-Lite paddlers will be required to arrive at the launch area in Humarock at 10:30 am for an appr 11:00 am departure.
  • Upon arrival at the Rail Trail bridge, paddlers will exit the water and walk their boards across the street to the After Paddle Celebration which will take place - Levitate Backyard (from 12:30 pm-4:00pm).
  • CCBC-Lite Paddlers must commit to put in the effort to raise at least $500 for Christopher's Haven. A link to set up a 2025 CCBC donation page will be provided after registration.

Celebration Event – August 9th @ Levitate Backyard, Marshfield, MA

A great after paddle celebration event has always been a hallmark of the CCBC. Details are as follows:

  • On Saturday, August 9th, there will be a celebration & music event from appr 12:30pm - 4:00 pm for paddlers, friends & family at the Levitate Backyard located at 1871 Ocean St, Marshfield, MA 02050.
  • Details for the Celebration Event are being finalized. All paddler registrations will include a ticket to the Celebration Event.
  • This will be a private event so all friends and family interested in attending will need to register via Eventbrite in order to participate
  • Food, beverages & live music will be included in the registration

We hope you will join us in 2025 for what is sure to be a wonderful event!!!

Now more than ever, children who are affected by cancer and come to Boston for treatment need Christopher’s Haven and Christopher's Haven needs our support.
