„Art is Trash - The Adventure Continues “, Finissage der Ausstellung, Künstlergespräch & Live Performance, Sommerfest /summer party
Francisco de Pájaro, better known by his stage name “Art is Trash”, is a legend of the international urban art scene. He owes his success to his double life. During the day he paints wonderful paintings that are sold in well-known galleries in New York, London and Barcelona; at night he lives his life on the streets of the cities. The Spanish street artist from Barcelona has made a name for himself in the street art scene with his unconventional works made from bulky waste. His street art is improvised, raw, funny and provocative. His paintings, on the other hand, are sensitive, beautifully composed and full of energy. Both groups of works have comic elements and his “trademark” ART IS TRASH in common, which is certainly questionable due to its monetary success. Whatever was created on the streets at night is quickly destroyed or disposed of by garbage collectors, while works sold through art dealers find their way into well-known collections. Provocation and fight against the norm also create audience, fans and social media reach.
We all know the story of the split personality "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" written by the Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson, Art is Trash and his double life would be a wonderful template on this topic. There was no shortage of setbacks in Francisco de Pajaro's eventful life. For example, he never received the fee from his manager at the time for a commercial for CONVERSE shoes, which can still be seen on YouTube today. He lived in London twice and couldn't get a foothold; a New York gallerist never paid him after all the pictures were sold...
After its success in Düsseldorf in 2024, “Art is Trash” is now returning full of energy. The exhibition from May 2025 was a highlight for urban art fans and art collectors. On the last weekend of the exhibition you can still view and purchase works full of color, expression and unconventional beauty. The artist is present at the finissage. At the same time, the summer festival in the air-conditioned rooms of Grafik Bild Kunst am Schwanenmarkt 6 offers pleasant entertainment and catering in conjunction with the opportunity to experience Francisco de Pájaro's works up close, to see him work and to learn more about his work and his exciting double life in an artist talk...
We are pleased that “Art is Trash” is once again inspiring Düsseldorf. We cordially invite you to our summer party to celebrate the successful exhibition. As always there is a bar (beer, wine & gin) and a smoking area in the courtyard.
All drinks and snacks are available for donation.
