Sophisticated, playful, and endlessly clever, their sleuthing adventures blend the suspense of a classic whodunit with the giddy energy of screwball comedy. Radically for its time, the film presented marriage as a source of delight and partnership, turning romantic chemistry into comedic genius. Its stylish tone and sparkling dialogue made it a major hit, and the success launched a beloved series of six sequels that would inspire generations of on-screen couples.
