Nearly a century later, Tod Browning's film is still considered one of the best Dracula movies. The film that kicked off Universal's monster franchise set the tone for the black-and-white Gothic horror movies that followed. Bela Lugosi's portrayal of Count Dracula cemented him as a lasting cultural icon, establishing the character's aesthetic for decades to come. Dracula may not be terrifying by modern horror standards, but the creepy atmosphere feels flawlessly suited as an adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel.
