Adapted from Mary Shelley's novel, Frankenstein tells the story of a scientist who creates a living being from a mix of dead body parts. When the monster is unleashed, he wanders, finding himself rejected and persecuted by society. The film depicts the monster not as an inherently evil being but as a misunderstood creature that doesn't understand how to exist in the world he was brought into. Boris Karloff's performance as the monster is iconic, and James Whale's creative filmmaking made Frankenstein a lasting classic.
