Enchanted Objects Amulet making workshop

We're welcoming all students back to Durham this autumn with a creative workshop led by artist Dinah Kelly exploring amulets and talismans, and create your own unique amulet filled with personal meaning.

This workshop coincides with the Oriental Museum’s current exhibition , a presentation of Dinah Kelly’s striking hand-made talismanic shirts and protective jewellery. Woven through the Silk Roads gallery these works are displayed alongside historic objects from the collection and Dinah’s sketchbooks and drawings.

Dinah will introduce her artistic practice and there will be opportunities to view the exhibition, sketch in the galleries and then create an amulet.

All materials provided. No experience necessary.

This workshop is suitable for over 16s only.

About the artist

Dinah Kelly is an artist and arts educator based in Brighton. Her recent inspiration has focused on museums as a way to develop her own practices and to blend museum collections and contemporary interpretation.

Ethnographic collections in particular, combined with travel experiences influence her working practice of jewellery making and other forms of personal adornment across cultures.

Parking and Accessibility
