This month we’re featuring Evan Schertz, owner of Maria’s Bookshop in Downtown Durango. After leaving a career in engineering, Evan took the leap in 2019 to purchase his family’s iconic bookstore. Since then, he has carried forward the shop’s legacy while strengthening its role as a cornerstone of community, connection, and culture in Durango.
Evan also serves as board chair for Maria’s Literary Foundation, working to expand access to books and the literary arts throughout the Four Corners.
