Please join us on Thursday, June 26 from 5-7PM at 11th Street Station for Durango Green Drinks! Hosts this month are 4CORE, Housing Solutions for the Southwest, and Durango Chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby. Green Drinks is a time to get together, network, gather in community, and hear from local organizations. Folks can have any kind of beverage or no beverage if they like.
4CORE - Four Corners Office for Resource Efficiency partners with families, businesses, and communities across Southwest Colorado, delivering tangible results in solar energy, energy efficiency, and clean transportation. Our initiatives lead to reduced energy costs, a smaller carbon footprint, and a healthier environment for everyone. Through Project SunShare, a collaboration with Shaw Solar, we're making rooftop solar accessible and affordable for working homeowners in Southwest Colorado. Our clean transportation team is actively involved in projects assisting with transportation planning in Pagosa Springs, Saguache, and our wider 12-county ReCharge region.
Housing Solutions for the Southwest - HOWL – Housing Our Workforce Locally is a non-profit community action agency that has served as the region’s housing resource hub for over 40 years. Housing Solutions provides comprehensive affordable housing services and builds affordable housing.
Last year, Housing Solutions took a bold step forward with a new initiative to help the local workforce. Housing Our Workforce Locally (HOWL) aims to forge strong financial partnerships with employers and businesses to address housing and financial instability of the local workforce. HOWL provides emergency financial assistance, financial and budget counseling, and connections to local resources (affordable housing, health and wellness, daycare, educational, etc.). To date, this program has served 183 employees in need.
HOWL is developing an employer, business, and landlord consortium to formulate a long-term, robust rental assistance and financial stability program. HOWL is investing in the long-term success of the local workforce and, by extension, the entire community.
The Durango Chapter for Citizens' Climate Lobby (CCL) is part of an international, grassroots, nonpartisan organization that empowers everyday people to work together on climate change solutions. Their supporters are organized in 17 chapters in Colorado and 480 local chapters across the United States. Together they are building support in Congress for a national bipartisan solution to climate change. Specifically, in 2024 CCL is building support for a comprehensive permitting reform package and carbon border adjustment mechanisms. CCL continues to work for in-district support for carbon fee and dividend.
